Solar Projects Inaugurated at Vizag Hospitals to Promote Green Healthcare

Visakhapatnam is taking significant strides toward sustainable healthcare infrastructure. On Saturday, July 25, 2026, District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore officially inaugurated 100 kW rooftop solar power projects split evenly across the Government Hospital for Mental Care and the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS). Each institution received a 50 kW capacity system designed to reduce institutional energy costs and champion the transition to clean, renewable energy.

### Advancing Sustainable Healthcare in Visakhapatnam

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore lauded the commendable efforts of AMNS India. The renewable energy installations are being rolled out under the company's Corporate Environmental Responsibility (CER) initiative, aimed at bolstering green healthcare infrastructure across government medical facilities in the district.

This latest launch builds upon AMNS India's ongoing district-wide green energy roadmap. Previous milestones under the initiative include rooftop solar installations at King George Hospital (KGH) with a 120 kW capacity and Victoria Hospital with an 80 kW capacity in 2025. Additionally, work on a 50 kW solar installation at RCD Hospital is currently underway.

### Environmental and Economic Impact

Medical and administrative officials emphasized that shifting toward solar power will yield dual benefits. Crucially, the systems will significantly lower recurring electricity expenditures for these public health institutions while simultaneously shrinking their carbon footprints to foster a cleaner, greener medical environment.

The inauguration event was attended by notable figures, including M. Ravindra Nath, Executive Director of AMNS Vizag Asset; Dr. K.V. Rami Reddy, Superintendent of the Government Mental Care Hospital; and D.S. Varma, Head of HR & Administration at AMNS Vizag Asset.
