# Home Minister celebrates Sankranti with tribes of Anuku village in Anakapalli

Minister for Home V. Anitha visited Anuku, an interior village in Kotavuratla mandal of Anakapalli district, on Friday (January 16, 2026) to celebrate the Sankranti and Kanuma festivals with tribal families. She was accorded a rousing reception from the tribals.

During an interaction meeting, the tribals expressed gratitude for the sanctioning of a road worth ₹2.50 crore. They also informed the Minister about their issues, particularly the lack of amenities, for which she assured them of assistance at the earliest. Ms. Anitha spoke about the welfare initiatives being undertaken by the NDA government.

The Minister also assured the tribals that all necessary development works required for Anuku village would be taken up. She said that several development programmes were implemented in the village during the TDP government between 2014 and 2019. She informed that Anuku village has a ration depot and that a cell tower would be constructed soon. Additionally, Ms. Anitha instructed officials to ensure the construction of toilets for every household in Anuku village.

The Minister distributed books and Sankranti gifts to the children and tribal families. The youth had received cricket kits and sports T-shirts. Later, she also played volley ball with the youth and later had lunch with the locals. The villagers presented vegetables and agricultural produce to the Minister.
