Visakhapatnam: Tribals from three remote villages in Anakapalli district organised a 3 kilometre horse rally on Friday seeking proper road connectivity. With no motorable roads, the villagers are forced to carry patients in dolis and transport essential supplies on horses."Pashuvula Bandha, Jeelugulova and Sompura Bandha continue to face severe hardship due to the absence of roads. In medical emergencies, including illness or pregnancy, people must travel over 3 kilometres of hilly terrain in makeshift cloth stretchers to reach the nearest road or healthcare facility. Locals Seediri Venkatrao and Korra Baburao lost their lives because timely medical help was not possible," said the protestors.

They said several representations were submitted to the Anakapalli district collector seeking road construction. "The public roads department estimated Rs 2.1 crore for a 3-kilometre metal road, but work has not begun, forcing villagers to depend on bullock carts. Transporting ration supplies, pensions and daily essentials remains extremely difficult. During the first phase of the ‘Palle Panduga' programme in Dec 2024, bituminous roads were sanctioned for nearby villages.
