Tragedy at Vizag Steel Plant: 50-Year-Old Contract Worker Dies Following Industrial Accident

VISAKHAPATNAM — Safety concerns have resurfaced at the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), popularly known as the Vizag Steel Plant, following a fatal accident on Friday morning that claimed the life of a 50-year-old contract labourer.
### Incident Details
According to plant officials, the accident occurred around 11:45 AM near the coke oven batteries section of the facility. The victim was hit when heavy material suddenly fell from a height, inflicting severe injuries.
Emergency responders quickly rushed the injured worker to a nearby hospital for urgent medical intervention. Despite immediate medical attention, the worker succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
### Heightened Concerns Over Plant Safety
This tragic incident comes shortly after a major blast on June 8 at the same steel manufacturing facility, which resulted in 10 fatalities and left four other workers injured. The recurrence of workplace accidents within a short span has renewed intense scrutiny regarding industrial safety protocols and employee welfare at the Vizag Steel Plant.
