# Vizag police recover Rs 1 crore worth stolen property

Visakhapatnam: The Vizag city police recovered stolen goods, including gold, cash, bikes, mobile phones, and valuables worth over Rs 1.08 crore in June.City police chief Dr Shankabrata Bagchi said a total of 95 property offences were reported in Vizag city in June. The police have detected 71 cases, arrested 84 property offenders, recovered over 534 gms of gold ornaments, over 700 gms of silver ornaments, over Rs 1.16 lakh cash, 27 bikes, five auto-rickshaws, one laptop and three cycles, and 470 (missing and stolen) mobile phones from the offenders. The police handed over stolen property to the owners during the recovery mela on Monday.A total of 11,130 mobile phones (stolen and lost phones) worth Rs 17 crore were recovered in the past two years in Vizag city. As many as 10,279 people benefited from the property recovery melas in the city. As of today, the police have recovered over Rs 24 crore in stolen property, and they have handed it over to the owners.The police stated that to prevent future crimes, they have implemented a multi-faceted approach and installed 203 CCTV cameras across the city in June, significantly enhancing surveillance capabilities. Of the total 95 property cases recorded in the city in June, PM Palem police solved nine cases and arrested 14 offenders; Dwarka police solved six cases and arrested six people; and three cases were solved by Arilova police.The department also conducted 204 crime awareness meetings in June to educate the public about criminal activities and prevention strategies. The police said special patrolling in crime-prone areas was conducted with crime teams during the day and nighttime. Drone beats are being continued in isolated areas for surveillance over criminal and illegal activities.
