Vizag,UPDATED:Oct 9, 2025 09:43 IST
India are playing South Africa in the Women's ODI World Cup 2025. After their win against Pakistan in Colombo, Harmanpreet Kaur's team are embarking on a tricky phase where they take on powerhouses South Africa and Australia in back-to-back matches.
With both matches set to be played in Vizag, where the women's team camped before the ODI World Cup, things were expected to play straight into their hands. However, that might not be the case, as rain is expected to add a different dimension to the contest, against South Africa at least.
[Heavy rain had lashed out in Vizag just a day before](https://www.indiatoday.in/sports/cricket/story/india-vs-south-africa-women-match-preview-predicted-xi-pitch-report-2800173-2025-10-09) the game. And it is expected to do the same once again on Thursday. It is expected that it will shower from afternoon and peak around the toss time, that is, 3 PM. It is expected to die down soon after, but overcast conditions are likely to play a big part in the game.
The overhead conditions mixed with gusts of wind could make things really tricky for the batters out there.
### Vizag Pitch Report
Vizag has traditionally been a batting-friendly surface with a little help for spinners. In the Indian Premier League, Delhi Capitals have made merry in the venue, hitting some big totals. It was reported just before the match that the pitch is expected to aid the struggling India batters. However, after sweating it out for over an hour in Vizag on Wednesday, [Jemimah Rodrigues reckoned that anything around 270](https://www.indiatoday.in/sports/cricket/story/womens-world-cup-ind-vs-sa-jemimah-rodrigues-indias-top-order-woes-2800147-2025-10-09) could well be a match-winning total at the Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium.
It needs to be mentioned that the Vizag stadium is hosting a women's ODI game for the first time in 11 years. Hence, winning the toss and opting to bowl first would not be such a bad idea.
