# ACB seize illegal assets from BC welfare officer in Srikakulam

Visakhapatnam: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Monday unearthed illegal assets worth crores allegedly belonging to Gaddi Bala Mukunda Rao, assistant backward classes welfare officer, Narasampeta and Sompeta in Srikakulam district.Acting on a tip-off that Rao was allegedly collecting kickbacks of Rs 15 per student from hostel welfare officers under his jurisdiction, ACB officials had earlier seized Rs 1.84 lakh in cash from him and his office attendant, Gudla Ramakrishna. Following this, ACB officials in Srikakulam registered a case, and searches were conducted at his residence in DCCB Colony, Chapuram.

The searches disclosed that the accused has acquired and has four immovable assets, including a building in Srikakulam town, 322 gm of gold ornaments, 1.75 kg of silver ornaments, some cash, one car, two bikes, household articles and a few others. The total value of the seized assets is estimated at approximately Rs. 1.1 crore (as per the document value). However, the illegal assets value is more than Rs 10 crore as per the market value. Further investigation in this case is ongoing..
